Hi all,

In the Gamedata, for many car there is a /luces/ folder. Sometime with subfolders /tipo1/ /tipo2/ ... with .gmt files in them.

Could somebody explain why these folder are used to ?

and only this ?
are these folders specific to the HGTTC mod ?

How can identify rFactor that there are some files there ?

Hi again,

yes, as far as i remember these are the folders where we set the headlights, and are specific to HGTTC.

Gonzas may give you more information about them, as he was the one who created them.

Cheers

OK. I hoped that maybe I could put the GMT files for new rims there and that rFactor will be able to use them This seems not to work. So, I will have to keep my rims away from game until it will be possible to use them.

Thanks for the info

rFactor knows that the files are there because is defined in the "searchpath" lines in .gen , and the game will look for objects there and if they are present they will overwrite the included in .mas files.

the fisrt digit of genstring very often in the mod is used to define the headlights, that number 1,2,3.... defines where rfactor have to look for objects, luces1 luces2 luces3..... folders.

you can add your custom wheels there , make a new folder , (lucesx) put your wheels and headlight objects there and in your .veh put one "x" in the first digit of genstring , that wheels will be loaded instead of the present in .mas files

remember to rename the materials of the new wheels and the new textures !!!

now ,you guys know another way to include new wheels to the mod without making changes in .gen or .mas files

That's a good information ! Thank you very much !

But I think I'm definitely not able to to such kind of changes.
You gave me a tip there : http://historicgt.8.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?p=23890#23890 I can't bring it to work

And now I tried this one, and the result is the same :/

Let's show an simple example: just a new color of existing rims

That is the goal
image

So, the 3D model of the rims exist, I just had to change the color.

The .dds files are ok
image

I changed all the .dds files I found in the mas file for the other rims in the same color and used the same names as for the rims #1

Now, I tried your tip.

- I have created a tipox subfolder
- copied the headlight files into it
- copied the .gmt and .dds "new rims" files into it

image

Changed the Genstring to : GenString=x13111112

But, in the game, the rims are still the #1 (no orange color)
image

Then I tried to copy the .dds files in the car folder, but it either don't work

I tried to replace the "x" by a "6", the result is the same :/

What am I doing wrong ?

weird... i will try the same and lets see , BTW the falcon uses that tip to select their wheels in 1.01 and in the current beta version there are a lot more who uses it.

i will take a look , anyway try to put another "X" in the five digit of genstring and rename the wheels as ___stylex

always you have to rename materials name and rename textures and sometimes even to rename objects.

hummmm , two things SORRY , and THANKS..

open the elan_spinner.gen file , there is a typo error.

// GONZAS //

//----------------------------------------

SearchPath=..\
SSearchPath=\HISTORICAL FIA GT\GTC-65\elan\luces\tipo<1>
SearchPath=

//----------------------------------------

please delete the double "SS" , is SearchPath not SSearchPath...

your rims will become orange ... Magic!

so thanks a lot , is the second typo error you find in a few days and will be fixed

this is one way to add custom objects and or textures to one car of the mod.

but CAN NOT BE DONE to all cars, only to some of them, because the Searchpath "luces" is activated in most of the .gens files but only in in some spiners.gen , the idea was to use them for headlights glos and they are not loaded in expo.

this "easy" way to paint and add custom object will be available for all cars in the next version of the mod.

in current 1.01 you should add the elan_wheel_6.gmt objects pointing to elan_wheel_6.dds files INSIDE .mas files and create new .gens who points to that .mas files and your new .veh have to point to that new .gens

image

the "hard" way to add custom objects to the mod is maybe 3 minutes longer to do than the "luces" way.

anyway the easy way will be avalaible in 2.0 version

life is not easy!!

I tried just one thing : it not necessary to rename every material in "6" in the .gmt files

For the Elan, I have add a tipo 7 folder and put the headlights and all the xxxx"3" .gmt files in it.

GenString=713131112

Changed just the xxx"3" .dds files with the new color, and it works.

I think that changing the search folder in the spinner.gen file will cause online mismatches ? or not ?

no, it will not cause mismatches, but is necesary to rename materials and textures , if not ,your new rims will be orange but they will share textures with the old ones where they came from, you will not have grey and orange in two cars at same time, you will have two orange sets of rims or two gray sets.
the one loaded in first place will share the textures to the other
rFactor understand and differences about materials name but not objects name.
